The majestic mountain tops surrounding our Alpine distillery form a very special botanical environment where herbs, roots, berries, cereals, flowers and fruit thrive in the clear mountain air. Monks and master distillers have used the plants for ages to produce their fine distillates, infusions and liqueurs. La Valdôtaine is a small distillery in the mountains inspired by the old traditions of the art of distilling. Small batches are crafted in old copper stills here. Rare mountain herbs are macerated and then carefully distilled. Our traditional alembics (stills), the regional additives and the mineral-rich water all give our distillates their distinctive Alpine character. In the mountains behind the distillery, two hour’s march by foot, there is a unique spring. The spring water is bright turquoise because of the rare minerals it contains. The water of the Acqueverdi Waterfall falls down from the high, magical Alpine valley until it reaches the village of Saint-Marcel where our distillery is located. The effect this mineral-rich water has on the purity of our spirits is unbelievable.
