The brand is named after its co-founder Marie-Brizard, who was born in Bordeaux on June 28, 1714. Together with Jean-Baptiste Roger, she founded a company in 1755 that specialized in the production of anisette and liqueurs. Eight years after founding the company, she perfected the recipe for her Anisette, for which she and her company became famous. Today, Marie Brizard is one of the oldest French companies still active and is therefore part of the country's cultural heritage.
