Michter's Distillery is based in Louisville, Kentucky /USA, right in the heart of the US whiskey industry. Michter's is the resurrection of an American legend and the legitimate successor to Shenk's Distillery, the first distillery in the USA, which was founded in 1753. Although demand increases every year, Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson select only those casks for bottling that are at the peak of their maturity. As an expression of the consistent "cost be damned" philosophy, significantly older whiskeys are selected than those declared on the label. And it is not uncommon for several years to pass before a Michter's Limited Release can be bottled.
