Fresh from Brooklyn

Founders Joe Santos from New Jersey and Emil Jättne from Sweden, former Bacardi marketers, had a dream: to create a first-class, marketable American-style gin with irresistibly fresh citrus flavors in a distinctive bottle. The start-up was founded in 2010 during the financial crisis. At that time, the young company was unable to build its own distillery in NYC. Joe and Emil therefore teamed up with the Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, which is located just a few miles north of the Big Apple. This is also the first distillery in the Hudson Valley since the days of Prohibition. The corn distillate, as the base alcohol, provides a certain buttery, nutty taste. The complex yet balanced flavor profile is rounded off by four different citrus fruits, complemented by six other botanicals. Eureka lemons, Persian limes, Albanian juniper, Indian coriander, French lavender and Brazilian cocoa bean tips, among others, characterize the full-bodied, fruity taste of the gin. An industrial production process is deliberately avoided. The citrus fruits are cut by hand and the fresh juniper berries are cracked by hand. All botanicals are added before the distillation process so that they can release the maximum amount of aromatic substances. After years of hard work and a steadily growing demand for Brooklyn Gin, the founders' dream of building their own distillery in Brooklyn finally came true. The Brooklyn Gin Distillery is set to open its doors for the first time in 2021.
