Brooklyn

Brooklyn Gin was launched in 2010 by co-founders and distillers Joe Santos and Emil Jattne. Having dreams of entrepreneurship and passion for old-world craft and artisanship, they broke free from a large spirits company to create a locally produced, handcrafted gin using fresh ingredients and traditional methods. The small company got its start in the wake of the financial crisis. At that time, due to our available resources, we were unable to build our own distillery in NYC. We were lucky to find a remarkable partner just outside the city in the Hudson Valley to help bring our vision of a handmade, small-batch American gin to life. We craft and bottle Brooklyn Gin at the Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery in Warwick, New York. This said, we have just moved our office into a new space, we’re we’re now building our own distillery, in Gowanus, Brooklyn, scheduled to open 2020. We are constantly inspired by the do it yourself mentality and creative spirit in Brooklyn. This amazing energy had a big influence on Brooklyn Gin. There is also a lot of love and appreciation for fresh ingredients, traditional methods and craftsmanship, which are the most important qualities in Brooklyn Gin. We feel a real kinship with our neighbors and local businesses. The support from the community is great. Brooklyn Gin is handcrafted one small batch at a time, using traditional artisan spirit-making methods, and without compromises. It begins with selecting and preparing the finest natural ingredients for our carefully honed recipe. We hand-crack juniper berries and use fresh hand cut citrus peels to release essential oils and bring out the true essence and complexity of the ingredients. The time and effort that goes into crafting Brooklyn Gin results in a superbly smooth gin that is fresh, complex and flavorful with a long clean sublime finish.
